The short version: Your GPS never leaves your phone. We don't sell your data. You can delete your account anytime. We built Looking the way we'd want an app built for us.

When you sign up, we collect your first name, date of birth, and email address. We use your date of birth to verify you're 18 or older. Your email is used only for account identification, and we don't send marketing emails.
We also collect your Looking type (from the quiz) and your looking status (on/off toggle).
This is the part we want to be really clear about. Your precise GPS coordinates never leave your device and are never stored on our servers. We write a fuzzy version of your location (rounded to approximately 300 feet) to our database solely to show you nearby Lookers. We cannot track your movements. We don't want to.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal information with advertisers. We do not build profiles to target you with ads. Looking is ad-free.
You sign in with your email and a password. Your email is used only for account identification and login. We don't send marketing emails and we never share it with third parties. Your name and age are only revealed to another user at the moment of a mutual match, and only if you've both opted in.
If you choose to enable "Hide from people I know," your contacts are hashed locally on your device and never uploaded to our servers. Raw contact data never leaves your phone.
We use Supabase for our database and authentication, and Vercel to host the app. Both have their own privacy policies. We may add Stripe for payments in the future, which will also have its own policy.
If you delete your account, we delete your profile data immediately. Signal and match history associated with your account is also removed.
Reports filed by other users about an interaction are retained for safety purposes even after the reported account is deleted. Deleting your account removes your data, not a safety record someone else filed.
Selfies are automatically deleted a few hours after they're sent, and we don't keep them. The one exception: if a selfie is reported for violating our community guidelines, we retain it as part of our review process, which may include preserving it as evidence if legally required.
Right after you sign in, we record the IP address your session came from and store it in a session log. We keep this for 90 days by default. If your account becomes the subject of a report, we extend that to 90 days from the date of the report — even if the review finishes sooner — so the record isn't deleted early while it could still matter to an active or future investigation. We use this for safety and abuse investigations, including supporting law enforcement or NCMEC reporting obligations where applicable.
Looking is only for users 18 and older. We verify your age at signup using your date of birth. If we discover an underage account, we will delete it.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll let you know in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
